ANZAC Day, Thursday 25 April 2013, is a day when Australia comes together to remember those who have served and died in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations. It is a day that observes and celebrates the spirit of mateship and working together towards the common good.

The Rockhampton Region has a number of marches, breakfasts and activities organised to commemorate our brave servicemen and women and all those that have served our country proudly.

 

Rockhampton
Rockhampton Botanic Gardens Dawn Service - Commencing at 4.27am

Due to increasing popularity and attendance please be aware that this service will be conducted on the Eastern side of the Cenotaph, facing the Murray Lagoon. On conclusion of the service, wreaths will be moved and arranged at the front of the Cenotaph for usual traditional viewing.

Groups and individuals are invited to place a single flower or other token of remembrance.

Parking:  Please follow instructions from Parking Marshalls in Phyllis and Spencer Streets. A limited number of disabled parking spots will be available at the South Rockhampton Kindergarden on Phyllis Street.

Bus 1 | 3.45am sharp (please arrive by 3.30am) - Stocklands from the Mandalay Medical Centre.

Bus 2 | 3.45am sharp (please arrive by 3.30am) - City Centre Plaza Bus Stop on Bolsover Street.

Return Departure | 5.45am Botanic Gardens from Clock garden roundabout returning to Stockland and City Centre.

 

ANZAC Day March

Marshalling time 9am at the corner of Archer and Alma Streets, Step off at 10am.

March will move along Archer Street, right into and along Victoria Parade, into and along Quay Street to the round-about at the corner of Quay Street and William Street.

 

Rockhampton Regional Council Civic Service

Riverside Park, Quay Street 11am

Local bands and a Catafalque Guard will be in attendance.

 

Rats of Tobruk Association, Rockhampton Branch Memorial Service

Service 8am – 8.30am at Jefferies Park, Corner of Alma and Albert Street, Rockhampton.

Morning tea available at conclusion.

 

Queensland Country Women’s Association

ANZAC Day Breakfast from 6am – 8.30am at the Rockhampton Masonic Centre, entrance on   Fitzroy Street, Rockhampton. Donations are welcome.

A free ‘Gunfire’ Breakfast will be held after the Dawn Service.

Gold coin donation breakfast following the service at the Bouldercombe Recreation Complex.

 

The Caves and District Anzac Day Committee

Dawn Service – 4.25am The Memorial Buch Square, The Caves (assemble at 4.15am).

A gunfire breakfast will be served after the Dawn Service at The Caves Country Pub Beer Garden.

March – Marshalling time 12.15pm, Step off at 12.30pm from Lions Park, Barmoya Road, The Caves. A light luncheon will be served after the community service at The Caves Country Pub Beer Garden. Donations appreciated.

Dawn Service – 5am Cenotaph, 1 Emu Street, Emu Park.

March – Marshalling time 8.30am, Step off at 9am adjacent to the Pine Beach Hotel, Granville Street. Traditional activities to be held at the RSL Club afterwards.

 

Gracemere and District RSL Sub Branch

Dawn Service – 4.30am Gracemere RSL Cenotaph, Lawrie Street, Gracemere.

March - Marshalling time 4am, Step off at 4.25am from Gracemere Shopping Centre.

A $3 gunfire breakfast after the Dawn Service with singer John Wilson at the Gracemere RSL Club.

Morning Service – 8am Schofield Park Memorial, Schofield Parade, Keppel Sands.

March - Marshalling at 10.30am, Step off at 10.45am at School of Arts, Mt Morgan.

Day Service - 1.30pm at the Memorial Gardens Mt Chalmers School, School Rd, Mt Chalmers. A sausage sizzle available for purchase from 12pm and followed by afternoon tea and raffles.

Dawn Service – 4.28am Lions Park, Marlborough to be followed by a BBQ breakfast.

 

Marmor Anzac Day Commemorative Committee

Afternoon Service - Marshalling time 4pm, Service at 4.27pm at Marmor State School.

A free BBQ provided following the afternoon service at the Railway Hotel.

Yeppoon RSL Sub Branch

Dawn Service – 4.28am Beaman Park Cenotaph, James Street, Yeppoon followed by a gunfire breakfast 5am – 10am at the Yeppoon RSL Club, Normanby Street, Yeppoon.

March – Marshalling at 10am, Step off at 10.30am from the Yeppoon Railway Station Site, Normanby Street, Yeppoon.

Lunch at the RSL from 11.30am and Two-up from 2pm onwards at the Marsden Tavern, Hill Street, Yeppoon.
