Karen Sisley, an educator with the Queensland Asthma Foundation (QAF), has been running education sessions in the community for the past 5 years. As a result of funding an asthma workshop will be held in the Rockhampton  and Yeppoon areas specifically aimed at educating sporting groups. In the past these sessions have been run mainly in southeast Queensland with the support of the Broncos and this will be the first time sporting groups outside SEQ have been approached.

The workshops will run for 1 hour and QAF are hoping to run a large cluster workshop with many different sporting groups attending and then following up to do  workshops for individual clubs after.

It is extremely important that referees, coaches, volunteers, and committee members are all aware of the importance of understanding asthma first aid and the necessary precautions that need to be taken when players and referees suffer from asthma.

QAF are seeking interest from groups to attend, and asking for dates that would be suitable in the New Year - it would be great if this could be done before the start of the new sporting season.

Why not make the most of this opportunity to be part of this training workshop and encourage as many of your club's referees, volunteers, coaches, and committee to attend.
