Event organisers were pleased to see the event come into fruition and were amazed by the community spirit and enthusiasm for the Movember fundraising event. 29 teams battled it out across three challenging workouts in beginner, intermediate and advanced divisions to see who would take out the Movember CrossFit Challenge.
Maddy, Milly and the Mo’s placed first in the Beginner’s division, Finding Nomos placed first in the intermediate division whilst CrossFit Gladstone’s 1st Movement Team won the advanced division.
To assist in raising extra funds a challenge was set for KickStartCQ’s Jared Thomsen, CrossFit CQ’s Sean O’Neill, and CQUniversity’s Brendan Kanowski to complete one burpee for every dollar raised on the day. Additionally KickStartCQ’s Sophia Czarkowski and Emily Powell would complete one squat for every dollar raised. Thanks to many generous donations the team of five will now complete 1,000 burpees/squats this Thursday from 10am at the CQUniversity Gym. The burpee/squat challenge will be filmed in time lapse and made available so everyone can see the team pump them out.
Thanks to the abudent community support the event’s donation of just under $3,400 brought CQUniversity’s total fundraising tally to $11,000.
On behalf of the event organisers, KickStartCQ would like to thank everyone who participated in the event, all of the supporters and anyone who generously donated to CQUniversity’s Movember campaign. A special thanks goes to the five CrossFit affiliates - CrossFit CQ, CrossFit Gladstone, CrossFit Rockhampton, CrossFit 470,1 and CrossFit Yeppoon; as well as all of the scorers, judges and, officials who volunteered on the day.
