New funding programs have been released by the Queensland Government's Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing. The Get in the Game initiative will provide $18 million in funding over the next three years, including:

  • Get Started - vouchers of up to $150 to offset club membership fees for children aged between five and 17 years
  • Get Going - funding of up to $10,000 for items and activities to assist clubs in attracting members
  • Get Playing - funding of up to $100,000 for facility development projects

There is likely to be strong competition for these grants and to submit a successful application, your organisation will need to make sure you have a well-developed project.

Get Going funding can be used for training for volunteers and planning for your organisation's future. The program can cover the costs of CPR Group's popular Club TAGS (Training in Administration and Governance Systems) program.

Through Club TAGS, we work one-on-one with committees and volunteers to help them run better clubs. By participating in the program, your organisation's administrative personnel will receive tailored governance training and we can assist you to prepare a comprehensive Business Plan to focus on innovative ways to:

  • Make more money
  • Reduce the workload on volunteers (and this means you, too)
  • Plan for facility and equipment needs of the club so that when new funding grants become available you are ready to apply
  • Within the $10,000 funding amount, your organisation can also apply for sporting equipment
