Women on the Capricorn Coast aged 50 through to 74 are invited to make the most of BreastScreen Queensland's mobile screening van as its services are offered FREE until just prior to Christmas.
A breastscreen, or screening mammogram, is an x-ray that can pick up small changes in the breast tissue. As there is currently no means of preventing breast cancer, the focus is on reducing deaths by finding cancer as early as possible to maximise treatment options. Having regular, two yearly breastscreens is the most effective way to detect breast cancer early or reassure you that your breast health is okay.
This service operates as a "well women's" service, meaning we do not treat women who have breast cancer or who have possible breast cancer symptoms as our focus is on early detection of breast cancer and reducing lifestyle risk factors.
The van is located outside the Capricorn Coast Health Service building on Hoskyn Drive in Yeppoon.
