A lot of us have great ideas that make energy sense—problem is we just don’t have the resources to get them off the ground. That’s where Ergon Energy comes in! Ergon Energy is committed to keeping customers safe around electricity and supporting regional Queensland communities with their energy efficiency initiatives. That’s why the Ergon Energy Community Fund was created.

So what is the Community Fund?
In a nutshell, it’s a grant program that provides funding for not-for-profit community groups and organisations to make energy conservation and electrical safety projects happen. It’s about bringing ideas to life! With grants from $200 up
to $5,000 and a total of $50,000, the possibilities are endless.

Who is eligible?
First off, you can be based anywhere in Australia – however your project must be executed within Ergon Energy’s distribution area. Secondly, your application needs to be from an incorporated not-for-profit organisation.

Eligible Groups Include:
• Community groups
• Local government or other government entities
• Educational institutions
• Charities
• Sporting clubs
• Industry associations
• Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander organisations

If you’re an individual with a great idea, you could consider
seeking sponsorship from a local incorporated not-for-profit organisation. Previous applicants and grant recipients are also eligible to apply again.

What projects will be supported?
The possibilities are endless, here are some ideas to think about:

  • Run an electrical safety campaign for local students, residents or industry
  • Run an energy saving challenge in your group, school or town
  • Replace or upgrade old equipment with more energy efficient models
  • Install renewable energy creating systems such as solar panels in public facilities (eg. schools, libraries, sports facilities, and other community buildings)

Please note, this funding program will close 5:00pm Wednesday 29 January 2014.
