Outdoor-Tober is a celebration of getting active in the outdoors and Chair of Council’s Parks and Recreation Committee, Councillor Cherie Rutherford encouraged everyone to get involved.
“This month-long event is run in conjunction with the Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation (QORF) and provides members of the community with an opportunity to try a selection of activities that are either free or low-cost,” Cr Rutherford said.
“KickStartCQ, an initiative of Council, has partnered with several local sporting clubs and health service providers to put together a calendar that is overflowing with great events.
“This calendar outlines the many different activities that are available throughout the Region for the whole month of October.”
Cr Rutherford said getting involved in Outdoor-Tober was a perfect way to spend the second week of the school holidays. "This is a great chance to get the whole family outside and active and help develop some healthy habits,” Cr Rutherford said.
“There’s a wide variety of activities, from Zumba, Ju Jutsu and Orienteering to Bike Rides,Triathlons and Outdoor Gym Sessions, on offer so you’ll be sure to find something that suits you.
“We have such a beautiful Region and coming into the middle of spring this is a great way of enjoying some of our nice warm weather.
“We realize that sometimes getting involved in physical activity can be difficult because of the costs involved, which is why it is important that we are able to offer these activities either free or at a low cost.
“There’s no excuse not to get involved so have a look at the KickStartCQ website for the full calendar of events.”
