Council is pleased to announce that the Gracemere Swimming Pool will be open to the public from this weekend.

Chair of Council’s Parks and Recreation Committee, Councillor Cherie Rutherford said she was pleased that Council was able to finalise its negotiations with Education Queensland and get an operator in to open the pool.

“We recognise that this facility has been missed by the community at Gracemere and we’re very happy to be able to reopen it,” Cr Rutherford said.

“The pool will open from 1pm to 5pm from Saturday 22 December to Monday 24 December then will be closed for Christmas Day, Boxing Day  and Thursday 27 December 2012 .

“It will then reopen with normal opening hours from  Friday 28 December.”

Councillor Rutherford said she was aware that many in Gracemere had been eager to have the pool reopened.

“We’ve had a very hot start to summer and I’m sure many Gracemere residents will be keen to take advantage of the pool being open,” Cr Rutherford said.

“I’d like to thank the community for their patience as we worked towards this outcome and I hope they get much enjoyment out of the pool over the next few months.”
