Award categories include:
Citizen of the Year
Recognising those who have made a noteworthy contribution to the betterment of the Rockhampton Region and/or given outstanding service to the local community.

Young Citizen of the Year (27 years or younger at 26 January 2014)
Recognising young people who have made a noteworthy contribution to the betterment of the Rockhampton Region and/or given outstanding service to the local community.

Sportsperson of the Year
Recognising those who have an outstanding record of achievement in sport or through their involvement as an administrator, official or coach, have made a significant contribution to the growth, development and/or increased participation of their sport within the Rockhampton Region.

Cultural Award
Recognising those who have made a noteworthy contribution to the cultural life of the community or an outstanding achievement in a cultural activity. Individuals who are creating partnerships to benefit the arts and culture of the community, raising the awareness and value of arts and  culture or acting as a role model for the community are ideal nominees.

Community Service Award
Recognising those individuals or groups who have made a noteworthy contribution to the community or enhanced social interaction among the community. This could include activities such as holding a community event or fundraiser, addressing a need in the community or actively promoting an initiative that contributes to a better Rockhampton Region.
