A series of fortnightly orienteering events will get underway in Rockhampton this month. These events are aimed at introducing people to the basics of the sport in a friendly, park environment. There will be instruction available on the basic map reading and navigation skills and some easy courses to try out. You can do a course on your own or as a group with friends or family members. The cost will be $5.
No special gear is required but wear sensible shoes such as joggers and a hat. Many of these parks have picnic facilities so you might like to stay on after the event for an extended outing.
The first few events will be in local parks but it is hoped to also be able to offer an activity on the campus at the Central Queensland University plus a bush event later in the year. The first event will be on Sunday 23 June in Kershaw Park, followed by one at the Rockhampton Botanic Gardens on 7 June and one at Duthie Park at Frenchville on 21 July. All events will have starting times from 9 - 11am. Further details are listed in the KickStartCQ Events Calendar.

All events will start from 9:00am and will cost $5.
