Rockhampton Basketball Incorporated will send eight teams to Mackay this weekend in an effort to repeat their success from last year in the Rockhampton/Mackay Challenge. This year will feature the Woollam Constructions U23 Rockhampton Men and Women for the first time along with the top U12, U14 & U16 male and female athletes from Rockhampton.

RBI General Manager Heath Millar said, “The Rockhampton/Mackay Challenge is something that we look forward to each year as the two associations have a healthy and competitive rivalry from U12’s right up to the Rockets and Cyclones.”

Millar, also the Woollam Constructions U23 Rockhampton Women head coach, added, “opportunities such as the Rocky/Mackay Challenge provide vital developmental experiences for our local aspiring athletes.”

The winner for 2013 is decided on an aggregate score by combining the scores off all eight teams to declare the overall association winner. Last year the tournament was held in Rockhampton and the home team won overall.

The Woollam Constructions U23 men and women both play a return match vs. Mackay in Rockhampton on Saturday 7th December. The women play at 3.30pm and the men play at 5.30pm.
