Thursday, June 4th, 2009

I have attached the following extract from a media release in relation to the Rocky River Fun Run be staged this Sunday 7 June 2009

The challenge is coming to an end for Stanwell Power Station and Rockhampton Regional Council.
Mayor of Rockhampton Regional Council, Cr Brad Carter accepted Rockhampton Rotary Club and
Stanwell Power Station’s challenge to generate a greater percentage of staff participation in the Rocky
River Run on Sunday, June 7, 2009.
“The Rocky River Run has provided Council with a fantastic opportunity to get all staff involved in
improving their way of living by staying motivated, getting fit, and maintaining good health over the
long term,” Cr Brad Carter said.
“The challenge set by Stanwell Power Station will be a difficult one to defeat however the response
from our employees has been exceptional.
“I believe the nominations are quite close, the outcome will be interesting and released on the day of
the event,” he said.
People are invited to participate in a 5km or 10km fun run/walk to kick start their fitness regime. A
21km half marathon is available for the more daring runners. All partakers are encouraged to invite
family and friends or bring a pet along to enjoy the event.
The organisations will be judged on the maximum personnel and relative participation on a
proportionate basis, with the winning organisation’s flag flown at the opponent’s establishment for one
week.
The challenge will provide further encouragement for local people to get healthier in 2009 through the
Kickstart CQ program. This interactive website www.kickstartcq.com.au allows the community to get
involved and commit to introducing a healthy habit into their lifestyle.
Join in the challenge and meet at Customs House, Quay Street for the Rocky River Run at 8.00am on
Sunday, June 7. All funds raised will go towards supporting local charities working for Youth Suicide
Prevention.
