Sorry I missed last week but I managed over 90kms last week.
This week has not been the best. Parliament sat and as the Leader of the House I am involved with pre Parliament meetings with the Premier so my whole routine was shot.
I did manage 15kms on Sunday but that was it. Also I walked up 18 floors 6 times, did 50 push ups and 100 squats.
As I said at the start this is not about weight for me I am not into ‘loser’ competitions but I am noticing my clothes are not as tight so perhaps I’m doing some good.
Paul Hoolihan has issued a challenge for 5,000 people to join Kickstart. If we want to win the $1 million on offer from the State Government we will need to get at least that number.
We want people who are already doing the right thing to register. We also want people who are cutting down on smoking or making an effort - any effort to exercise on the website. This all started with the Premier throwing out a challenge to Queenslanders to be the healthiest Australians by 2020 and from what I hear around town we are up there with the best of them. We just need everyone to register.

Its important for everyone to know that I am not in for a biggest loser type competition with the Mayor.
Brad has set himself a weight goal. Mine is a fitness one. I am pleasantly surprised at my progress. I encourage everyone who is exercising to enter and those who are not, to start even a small program. If I can do it anyone can.

Total distance cycled this week so far 72kms. I intend to cycle another 15kms tomorrow morning. I missed out today owing to having to catch an early flight out of Brisbane. I can see I am going to have to develop some strategy to deal with early morning flights so I can make up the distance at another time. Climbing 18 sets of stairs twice in the Parliamentary annexe this week was easier than it was last week.
My weight and waistline remain unchanged

Like most people in our community I struggle to juggle work and exercise. My commitment to cycle 70ks a week, which I worked out to be around 8 hours is on target. Premier Anna Bligh has charged Ministers with leading by example in her bid to make Queenslanders the healthiest people in Australia by 2020.
I found walking up and down 18 floors in the Parliamentary annexe also useful this week. I did it twice. My weight does not really bother me as I know if I get fit my waistline will drop, which is my aim.
